Hippy clothing has been at the forefront of alternative clothing for many years. The hippie movement of the 1960’s changed the way people look at themselves. In many case for the first time people were fighting the norm and standing up to being different. People had realised that being different was not a bad thing and being able to express yourself was freeing and exhilarating. Clothing has to my mind, always been one of the most outwardly open ways of expressing yourself.
Here at Hippy HQ we are always looking at new ways to showcase our product range, we know that customers don’t always like to scroll through websites to see whats about. Although our range of clothing does change on a week to week basis due to new clothing lines arriving from different parts of the world, we have managed to put together a little video of some (we just couldn’t do all the items are there are far to many) of our fantastic hippy clothing range. Keep an eye out for future videos as I’m sure we will have more on the way. Any comments then please let us know.
It’s that time again ladies……..
In the summertime when the weather is high (sing with us),
You can stretch right up and touch the sky,
When the weather is fine,
You’ve got clothing, you’ve got clothing on your mind!
Ok so we may have changed the words a little….
So, here we are again on another warm and sunny day. Don’t you just love this time of year?!
The sun is shining and the air is warm and filled with the smell of freshly cut grass and bbq’s. Just delightful!
We thought that as it is summer we would carry that theme into this week’s outfit idea. This hippy ensemble will look wonderful day and night.
The outfit that we have chosen this week is made up of one of our wonderful pairs of multicoloured patchwork Ali Baba trousers and a tie dye vest top.
This outfit can be worn anywhere that you like, music concert, out to dinner with friends or just relaxing in the sun.
Music has always been a massive part of my life. Since when I went to my first festival many years ago my musical tastes have grown and grown. I love a diverse choice in music from Psychedelic trance to rock and roll, from the Beatles to Bach, the 60’s and 70’s played a major roll in the years where I started to find myself as a person, music is and always will be one of the things I enjoy on a day to day basis.
In my opinion the clothing I live in and the music I listen to are closely related. The reason is simple, the clothes I wear are an expression of of who I am as a person much like the music I listen helps me express myself.
We have done one this week for the ladies and now for the gents……….
We know just how hard it can be to find the right outfit – it is so easy to find a pair of trousers that you like – the difficult part comes when you try to find a shirt to match them or visa versa, found a great top but struggling to find trousers. This is a problem that we all come across which is why we have decided that we will try to help where we can by posting 1 new gents outfit idea per week.
This funky outfit is made up of a pair of our wonderful printed pattern Nepalese festival trousers and one of our very popular Nepalese striped Granddad Shirts.
Both of these items are very popular and worn by males of all ages. To be honest we have several women that wear them too and that is because they just look so great.
This outfit would look great anywhere -festival, home or out and about..
With people getting ready to flock to their favourite UK festivals we wondered how people normally travel to and form these great summer music gatherings.
You’ve got your funky hippy clothing and a ticket to a music festival that could change your life (my first festival changed mine).
We’ve been searching around and have found some funky alternative modes of transportation that any self respecting hippy would be proud to use.
The first on our list of great festival transportation ideas is this stunning motorbike, the person who did the paint job on this spent many hours creating a brightly coloured hippy hog. Whether you are cruising to a festival or making your way across the world, this would be a great way to travel.
We thought that as we were bringing you news of festivals, we would also bring you some outfit ideas, not just to wear to festivals but everywhere! The reason that we have decided to start doing this is that we know just how hard it can be to choose and put a complete outfit together when there is so much choice.
We are going to try and bring you 2 outfit ideas a week. One for the ladies and another for the gents.
Our first outfit is for the ladies and is made up of one of our tie dye skirts, a plain vest top (we do not sell plain vest tops although most people have one in their collection somewhere.) and one of or Bali knit shrugs.
The beauty of this outfit is that is really can be worn anywhere and for every occasion be it walking around a festival or going out for dinner on a nice summers eve..
With festival season in full swing it’s nice to turn our attention away from the behemoths that vie for prominence in the media and look at what else is out there. Britain is a fantastic stage for more mindful events which can be found in stunning locations up and down the land if you know where to look.
Yep it’s fast approaching festival time again. We love this time of year. So many festivals to go to and so much great music to be had. We have made sure that your festival season will be just as great as last year with a fantastic range of hippy festival clothing. Our cotton poncho range is also a best seller with people using these festival favourites as blankets and bed spreads. We have a wide range of cashmilon blankets that are nice and warm as well as light weight. The girls will be happy to see our funky festival shorts (found in the shorts and trouser section), these funky festival shorts have lace trim and come in about 10 colours. We have many new jackets and tops arriving over the next few months as well as our ever present tie dye range keeping you bight all summer. Whatever festival you make it to this year we hope you have a brilliant time and enjoy the music, the company and our clothes.
Hello friends, and welcome to our blog. What better time to start it than in June, otherwise known as the ‘Glastonbury Rainy Season’.
If you’re lucky enough to be going to Glasto this year and it’s your first time, we envy you! Nothing can really prepare you for the sensory spectacle that will greet you from the second you arrive. (Although we found a lovely description for newbies here by Somersetsun; we think she nailed it.)
