What is Grapeseed oil?

Grape seed oil (also called grapeseed oil or grape oil) is pressed from the seeds of grapes.  As the process of wine making uses a large quantity of grapes grapeseed oil is a wonderful by-product.

How is grapeseed oil extracted?

Grapeseed Oil is extracted from the seeds contained in the fruit of the common grapevine.  Simply put the best oils are cold pressed.
All our massage oils use grapeseed oil that has been cold pressed, this is a much more natural way to extract the oil from the seeds. Cold pressed oils retain all of their flavour, aroma, and nutritional value.

Grapeseed oil uses

Grape seed oil is a preferred cosmetic ingredient for controlling moisture of the skin. Light and thin, grape seed oil leaves a glossy film over skin when used as a carrier oil for essential oils in aromatherapy. It contains more linoleic acid than many other carrier oils.

Grape seed oil is also used as a lubricant for shaving and as a growth and strengthening treatment for hair.

Grapes have been harvested and used by humans for food, medicine and various other things for over 10,000 years. Various parts of the plant have been attributed a wide range of medical effects from stopping bleeding to treating smallpox.

Grapeseed Oil is great on the skin. It is non greasy and leaves the skin feeling soft. The oil is also good for cooking as it contains zero cholesterol.

Grapeseed oil is also a great cooking oil.  A 1993 study supports the claim that grape seed oil increases high-density lipoprotein (HDL-C or “good cholesterol”) levels and reduces LDL levels.

Although grape seeds contain antioxidants and other biologically active compounds, the cold-pressed grape seed oil contains negligible amounts due to their insolubility in lipids. For instance, sufficiently high amounts of resveratrol occur in grape seed for it to be extracted commercially, yet it is almost entirely absent in the grape seed oil.
