Folks across the UK are readying their best hippy clothing, packing their poi and practicing their hula hooping skills, as the countdown to this year’s Green Gathering begins.
One of the most popular hippy festivals in the UK, and one of the least commercial festivals on the circuit, The Green Gathering is a laid-back event that truly keeps the spirit of Woodstock et al alive and kicking.
Hippies who head out to the Welsh Borders for the party will be able to take part in a huge number of events, including ‘skillshares’, in which talented members of the hippy tribe share their knowledge on a range of topics, ranging from crafts to permaculture.
The Radical Cinema will screen thought-provoking films, while The Raconteur’s Delight will feature everything from poetry reading to cabaret, with a classy steampunk-themed cocktail and temperance bar available for refreshments.
The site of the festival is undoubtedly one of the most enchanting, with tipis, a fairy glade and even one of its own stone circles to bring some magic to the weekend’s proceedings.
In total, more than 100 acts will take to the stage, including musicians, magicians and mystics, ensuring that there is something for everyone, no matter what section of the hippy scene they may be in to.
So, dust off your hippie summer dresses, slip into your tie-dye clothes and prepare for a weekend of magic, mystery and mayhem at the Green Gathering, which is set to take place from August 4 to 7 in Chepstow, Monmouthshire.
