I have to say that despite loving festivals and despite the head hippy having family on the Island, 2016 was the very first year that we made it to the amazing Isle of Wight Festival and do you know what? It was brilliant.
We were super impressed with the festival as a whole and would definitely go again (not this year though unfortunately).
The Isle of Wight festival has such a wonderful vibe. With so many great bands to see and so many things to do to keep yourselves entertained, it really is a festival that everyone should go to – unfortunately everyone wouldn’t but, everyone should try and get a ticket! This is a festival that is great for kids, teens and of course the grownups. There is something for everyone.
Everyone that goes to this festival is friendly, none is judged and everyone is there to have a good time.
For the kids – Kidzone is the place to be. They offer many things including a craft area where they make such a wide variety of things from recycled headdresses to clay pots. As well as crafts there is also circus workshops where your little ones can learn how to juggle, use poi and devil sticks. Wow! Suitable for all ages.
For the teens and the grown ups – the only difference between the teens and the adults is the booze 🙂 Sorry guys! Entertainment etc is the same though from tents offering crafts to the Circ De Quirk where you can try your hand at poi, hula hoops and even some stilt walking….You can even go and treat yourself to a hot tub if you fancy it 🙂
Food and drink stalls galore they really have catered for everyone at this festival. Yummy!
Now for the real reason we all go to festivals – the bands;
Friday Night Headliner – The main guy taking the stage on Friday is David Guetta. Loved by so many I am sure it will be great. Before David you will see the likes of Run DMC, The Kaiser Chiefs and Rag ‘N’ Bone Man.
Saturday Night Headline- The main dudes headlining on the Saturday are Arcade Fire. So gutted that we will not get to see these guys, they are brilliant. Before the fab Arcade Fire you can watch, Catfish and the Bottlemen, The Kooks, Texas and Jack Savoretti. What a night this will be!
Sunday Night Headliner – Rod Stewart is the shining star closing the 2017 Isle of Wight Festival. To be honest, personally, I am not a huge fan of Rod however, I have heard that he is just amazing live and a must see. Before Rod you should check out, Bastille, George Ezra, Imelda May and The Shires
These bands are just a few of the amazing line-up in store for you if you attend this festival. To view the full festival line-up – click here
As well as everything that I have mentioned, another reason that the love the Isle of Wight Festival is due to the fact that it is a not for profit festival. Every penny that the festival makes goes back into the festival (after costs have been covered of course) so that they can make it better and improve the festival year on year. Right on!
There is camping at the festival and facilities on site for you to use which is just what you need. There are several options for you so be sure to check them out online.
Before you disappear of to the festival to have the best time – make sure that you have packed your festival survival gear. Not sure what this festival clothing will be? Well, every festival goer should have the following with them to every festival that they attend;
- Cotton Poncho – not only does this keep you warm in the evenings, it can also be used as a blanket that you can share with your friends or as something that you can lay on the ground and sit on.
- Bright, colourful and funky festival clothing – you are after all a hippy!
On a serious note, the weather can get pretty warm at this time of year so please, make sure that you take sun screen and drink plenty of water.
Have fun and stay safe folks.
