Hippy Pewter Necklaces
As a small family run company our aim is to make sure that we always provide our customers with a great choice of funky handmade items. We sell everything from beautiful jewellery through to clothing and gifts. We like to make sure that you, our friends have lots to choose from when you come and visit us. Jewellery and hippy clothing go together hand in hand and it is always great to accessorise (or so my wife tells me… Who am I to argue?). So, I have been told that I have to agree that Cornish Pewter necklaces are a stylish hippy accessory.
Many of our clothing items come from places like Nepal, India, Thailand and Indonesia. Don’t get me wrong, we love the clothes that come from these wonderful countries however, when it comes to our jewellery, there is no need to travel so far. We wanted to bring you something a little closer to home.
Our fantastic range of pewter necklaces are all handmade in the heart of Cornwall. Right here in the UK. Such a stunning part of the country which produces some truly stunning jewellery.
Each one of these lovely pendant necklaces is cast in centrifugal moulds and then finished by hand. However they are made, such skill is needed and such care is used when making these pewter necklaces. Each finished product is a work of art.
Keeping in line with the values of Mystical Mayhem Hippy Clothing, these necklaces are made from recycled tin. We always prefer to source sustainable and recycled materials where we can, not always possible however but, our producers have really hit the nail on the head with these.
These lovely pewter necklaces are made by a husband and wife team who live in Cornwall. They work together to produce these crafted items that you can find in our store. We had been looking to increase our collection and thought that these wonderful examples of British craftsmanship fitted really well with the other items we sell. Many of the designs have been inspired by their local area which as a result really makes these pendants special.
We love that these pendants are handmade in Penzance, Cornwall.
The pendants themselves are all made from Pewter. Pewter is an alloy of tin ( 92 % ), copper and antimony.
The chains that the pendants come on are all silver plated.
When people read that pewter is made mostly from tin they assume that the quality is lacking. Let me squash that assumption right now. Pewter is a wonderful material and in many cases is favoured above silver. It is a wonderfully soft metal which can be worked into such beautiful creations creations with ease. I won’t go into too much detail but, way back when, all of the houses of the rich used to have lots of pewter and this was seen as a sign of wealth. Jewellery, candle sticks and even serving platters- everything but the kitchen sink.
It went from the radar for a while but is being used so much more these days. The metal really does make wonderful pendants. They look wonderful and have a shine that is second to none. These are necklaces you can be really proud to wear. British and beautiful!
So, they are a true hippy accessory they can be worn with anything and everything. Suitable for all genders they have become one of our most popular ranges. Kids especially love our animal range. Puppy dogs, kittens and hedgehogs amongst many others – what’s not to like?!
Jazz up otherwise simple hippie clothes with a bright amber sun necklace or just add a little shine to a punchy outfit with one of our plain chains. You can opt for a little anarchy, hearts, flowers and even animals.
You can match the necklaces to the pattern of your clothing or even your bags. We have some fab embroidery jackets that go really well with some of our more natural range. They can be as subtle or as bold as you like. That is the joy, you can mix and match and they will all look great!
We have produced a wee video for you just so that we can showcase a few of our favourite pewter necklaces. Have a look through our video for a quick look at the latest offerings. If there is something you see that we don’t currently have in stock then let us know and we will see what we can do for you. We have so many styles and designs for you to choose from.
