What are Harem Trousers?

We know harem trousers as big, comfortable threads that are gathered and caught in at the ankles. Although well loved all around the globe, they were originally styled in Paris in the early 1900’s. The maker of the harem trousers, Paul Poiret although a pioneer in fashion in those days, actually took the idea from the Middle East. The guys in the Middle East had been wearing similar for years.  From what we can gather, they were styles on Turkish trousers called Salvar.

Thanks are due to Mr Poiret as these are a firm favourite here.
