What Are Chakras?

What Are Chakras?

What Are Chakras? So, just what are chakra’s? – this is a question that lots of people want to ask but just don’t. Chakra talk is everywhere and some people just expect others to know exactly what they are talking about when discussing them. Rubbish – we all had to start somewhere right?! You aren’t just born with knowledge, you have to learn and study, just like everything else you are interested in and need to know.

We have been there, a friend starts a conversation with you but then, after a while, blah, blah, blah… because we have no idea what they are babbling on about. This is why we thought that we would (in a nut shell) help you to understand what chakra’s are.

Energy Centre

First things first and one of the most essential things to understand – we are energy. Pure wonderful energy. You, me,  and all living things are comprised of energy. People, the earth, animals, the trees and also the grass. Everything is energy.

Chakra is the Sanskrit word which translates to wheel. In Meditation, yoga and in Ayurveda this refers to the wheels of energy throughout the body.  If you are a regular of any of these you will have heard this before and also the word “prana”. Prana is the life force, the energy within us that keep the wheels (chakra’s) turning.

Your prana is what allows you to function. It is what keeps you balanced,  emotionally, physically, physiologically and spiritually. The strength and ability of your energy is key to being balanced.

The 7 Chakras

There are 7 chakras with each one pertaining to a different part of the body. Here I will tell you what they are however, I will save the detail in another article as there is a lot to share.

Root – this is the bodies first chakra which is located at the base of the spine
Sacral – the 2nd chakra which is located in the lower abdomen
Solar Plexus  – our third chakra which is located in the upper abdomen
Heart – our fourth chakra which is located is the centre of our chest
Throat – the fifth chakra which is located, yes you guessed correctly, the throat
Third Eye – our sixth chakra which is located on our forehead in between our eyes
Crown – our last chakra which is located right on the top of our heads.

We have chakra throws and chakra meditation plaques to help aid you in remembering where your chakra’s are.

Blocked and Unbalanced Chakras

Many of us don’t realise when we are unbalanced. Symptoms appear and seem like normal every day things.  Tired more often than we should be? Brain fog that lasts for day’s that we just cannot shift? Regular headaches and sore throats? All of this can be signs of blocked and unbalanced chakra’s. The great news – this can be fixed with a little practice.

Our day to day lives lead us to believe that these symptoms are normal however, this is not necessarily so. Yes we all get ill due to viruses in the air, we are of course not invincible but, we need not suffer so much. You will be surprised at how much of this is down to the fact that your energy cannot flow freely. It has a knock on effect. When one Chakra is blocked, the energy flow halts and then niggles start to appear within us.

Believe it or not, our bodies are excellent at communicating what chakras are affected. When you take a step back from how you are feeling and consider all of your symptoms, the odds are that they lead back to the area of the affected chakra.  Our bodies are very very clever.

Chakra Cleansing

Yoga-Meditation

Chakra’s can be rebalanced and the energy flow restored. There are many ways in which you can cleanse and unblock your chakra’s. You can learn to do this yourself, once you understand each chakra or, you can get help. Here are a few ways in which your chakra’s can be rebalanced using energy healing;

  • Reiki – this is a hands on body healing that facilitates the healing of the chakra’s by directing the energies within the body. The work reiki is a combination of both Japanese and Chinese Words. “rei” meaning spiritual and “ki” meaning vital energy.
You can learn to heal yourself however reiki takes dedication and lots of skill so I would urge you to seek help from a reiki master who can both heal and teach you.
  • Conscious breathing – this is a way of breathing being in full awareness of yourself and the present moment. Breathing can act as a bridge between the body, mind and spirit.
  • Acupressure and Acupuncture
  • Yoga
  • Meditation
  • Healing stones – each chakra has stones that correspond directly to them using vibrational frequencies. 7 stones are laid on the body over each chakra and using energy, the chakra’s absorb the stones frequencies restoring balance and energy flow. Voila.

All of these methods work similarly in that they all use energies to heal you. However you choose to help cleanse you, be sure that they discuss the options best suited for you. Also, check out any reviews etc first. You should certainly be offered a consultation period first.

You will be amazed at how much better you will feel with clear energy pathways.
